Summer Camps For 11 Year Olds

UMD offers and hosts many educational, recreational, arts and sports programs to entertain and educate children of all ages, from toddlers to adults. After the previous two years and the actual offer, this year’s round consists mostly of in-person camps, including day and night programs, as well as many online options.

Students will learn about agricultural science from AGNR, animal scientists, industry representatives and experts from the United States. Ministry of Agriculture. Students from across the state and country receive three hours of college-level training with AGNR100, “An Educational Odyssey in Exploring Food, Culture and the Environment.”
Each day of camp is filled with fun activities, fun projects, educational demonstrations and more. Camp activities ignite students’ curiosity, expand their knowledge, and increase their appreciation of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in their daily lives and future careers.
AI4ALL, a three-week intensive computing bootcamp with Artificial Intelligence (AI), will be offered as a hands-on experience. Globally, AI4ALL’s mission is to increase the presence of underrepresented people in the field of AI. Students will leave knowing how AI can be used to help people and an idea of the types of jobs available in AI.
Greensboro Science Center
Entomologists explore the nirvana of insects in a one-week program designed to teach children about the important role insects play in the Earth’s ecosystem.
Camp Shule (meaning “school” in Swahili) gives young people the opportunity to explore academic, artistic and recreational activities in a relaxed and creative environment. Camp fosters a lifelong love of learning and combines the best aspects of a traditional camp—friendship, adventure, and adventure—with intellectual exploration and discovery.
The Toddler Center is a modern center that provides a place that educates and cares for children appropriately.
The Maryland Cochlear Impact Center of Excellence offers a two-day camp for young children with severe hearing loss in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences. The program gives them the opportunity to take individual and group lessons in fun and interactive classes. Children will receive daily support sessions and individual principles that are reinforced throughout the day during group time, including lap time, outdoor play and meals.
Summer Camps At The South Carolina State Museum
CompSciConnect is a three-year summer camp (Yellow, Red, and Teal groups) that begins with 6th graders moving into the Yellow group. Each summer, students learn advanced skills and meet monthly throughout the school year to maintain those skills. In three years, students pursue block and drawing programs (Yellow); web applications with HTML, CSS and JavaScript (Red); and Python and 3D programming (Terp), along with cybersecurity/security, cryptology, fundamentals of number, logic and computers. The camp emphasizes how these skills connect to other areas of learning and make the world a better place. Apply by March 11 for best consideration.
Students will have the opportunity to expand their cybersecurity knowledge and gain practical skills while being taught by a cybersecurity expert. Students learn about career options in the field, take a one-on-one field trip and hear from a variety of speakers to learn more about how to prepare to enter this exciting career. Additionally, students will be introduced to the Advanced Cyber Security Exam for Students (ACES) honors program offered at the University of Maryland.
Designed for beginners in computing, this camp will teach students the basics of Python and learn how to apply the language to wearable technology. Students will spend a week with computer science students to research the field, and will have lab visits and field trips. Apply by March 11 for best consideration.
This camp will give participants an opportunity to see what fire protection professionals do inside and outside of the classroom. Over the course of 4 days, participants will learn engineering concepts, participate in experiments and work with engineering software.
West Hartford Leisure Services Spring/summer/summer Camp 2021 By Victoria Branning
In an intensive, four-week research program, students will: explore engineering through research work; learn about engineering research and engineering concepts; Develop a research proposal, complete a literature search, and evaluate a research project; learn about the college application process, financial aid options and testing options; and meet undergraduate and graduate students through engineering programs and events.
July 11-15 (at Mount St. Joseph days 1-4; students will travel to UMD by bus on the 5th)
Students will learn about information, detection and suppression of fire protection systems. Teams of three to four people will design, test and build a two-bedroom house together with the home’s information, detection and control systems. Teams will bring their homes to be fire tested at the University of Maryland fire labs during the weekend competition.
Camp activities include learning math outside of the regular curriculum, participating in math mini-courses, and recording and publishing a podcast of a famous mathematician.
Ywca Summer Camps
Boys and girls of all skill levels learn the sport without the pressure of competition at this weeklong all-day camp. At the end of each week, athletes participate in games with family and friends.
At weekly residential camps, children and youth from all backgrounds experience writing, AI, machine learning, filmmaking, robotics, and game design, and develop essential skills.
In this week’s data analysis camp, students work in small groups to solve a real-world problem by analyzing data provided by a professional organization. Students will learn how to approach problem statements, integrate additional data to improve analysis, use Tables to analyze, and create visual representations to share their findings. At the end of the week, each team will present their final project to a panel of data analysis judges.
The Jump Start program gives students the opportunity to learn the tools and excitement of modern life science research, under this year’s theme of biomedical science. Students learn about anatomy and physiology and how cellular and cellular processes affect the way we feel, recognize and treat disease. They participate in discussions, case studies, online lab research and professional development workshops.
Tech Wreck Summer Camp
Majors are invited to participate in computer science, robotics, and cyber security. Elementary students will learn topics such as the Art of Python, Number Theory, Scratch, and Cryptography in this one-week camp. Apply by March 11 for best consideration.
Students expand their knowledge of statistical concepts, increase interest and interest in advanced mathematics and statistics courses in high school and college, and access STEM careers. Activities are led by teachers, certified local teachers and graduate students in the STEM field. Students also have the opportunity to meet the athletic coaches and enjoy the entertainment offered in the Stamp Student Union and Xfinity Center.
This new summer program combines physics, real-life quidditch games with books and movies from the world of Harry Potter. Campers learn about nature by exploring the magic of Hogwarts and the concepts of mechanics, optics, magnetism and modern physics. Fans are divided into “houses” and compete for a week in the Try-Physics Tournament and the Quidditch Cup. The camp concludes with a meal for participants and parents, a demonstration of the science concepts learned and a quidditch tournament.

Students learn about topics such as relativity, antimatter, biophysics, quantum mechanics, physical uncertainty, quantum computing and more. The program is filled with laboratory activities, visits to advanced research laboratories, discussions with professors and graduate students conducting cutting-edge physics research, and a project to make meaningful discussions of current issues. Students are introduced to topics that may not be covered in their high school classes, from Einstein’s experiments to how they can be used in criminal law enforcement.
Fastrackids Summer Ste(a)m Adventure
Students prepare for the SAT, gain advanced math knowledge, participate in college admissions interviews and apply for financial aid and learn about the A. James Clark School of Engineering.
Students will participate in homework related to various engineering practices each week and learn about research labs at UMD. Students will learn to read and write scientific research papers and will have the opportunity to meet with University of Maryland students participating in research projects.
A weeklong camp at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism provides tools and inspiration for high school students interested in sports. Teachers and other media professionals share the basics of journalism, as well as other sports journalism skills including writing a sports story and covering a press conference.
